That's an excellent point. I'm not at all religious, but I sure see the wisdom here.
Out of curiosity (you don't have to answer), which religious approaches to death do you think offer the most comfort for the living, or, let's say, which religions 'do it right' in your opinion?
It's hard for me to say. After my father was killed in a car accident, I turned to Buddhism. It's been almost 8 years and I still really miss him. Buddhism helps me to accept the situation. I was raised Christian. I didn't really find comfort or help in Christianity after my father died. But I've attended Christian services for my mother in law after she passed and I found it really comforting. I also found Christianity more comforting after 9/11. I think Buddhism does a better job of helping me deal with my anger. Where I find Christianity to be more like a nice cup of tea on a cold day. I don't know that any particular religion does it better than others. I think it's more a matter of what's most effective in helping a person in a moment of crisis. For me, it's Buddhism.
