Who Killed the Electric Car?

Posted on May 16th, 2007 by Lisa : Aspiring Bodhisattva Lisa
I just watched the movie "Who Killed the Electric Car?"  I don't remember the last time I was this angry!  I'm stunned that GM had a Saturn electric car, the EV1, and then took them all away.  They wouldn't even let people outright purchase them!  They only allowed people to lease them and then when California revoked the law requiring a certain percentage of no emissions cars be in CA by 2003, they took them away and DESTROYED them!  My husband and I own two ordinary Saturns, which we like.  I've been waiting for Saturn to come out with some sort of hybrid.  They did, but it still only gets 36 MPG.  I liked that Saturn as a company appeared to be GM's forward thinking branch of the business.  I liked buying a car that was built in the US.  They had the next car I wanted to buy, the EV1 and they DESTROYED it!  So unless they suddenly start making them again, I'll be buying some other company's car next.

Oh, my friend just told me about that movie and I really want to see it. It's interesting you said it made you “angry” because that's the exact same word she used…
