What qualities do you seek in a partner?

Posted on May 15th, 2007 by Lisa : Aspiring Bodhisattva Lisa
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 15, 2007:

I'm one of those rare people who found my soulmate at age 19 and we've been together ever since.   I immediately liked him when we met and chased him for months before we started dating.  So in describing the qualities I would seek in a partner, I'll be describing my husband.  He's very loving and caring, not just with me but with our extended families and friends.  He's intelligent and spiritual.   I'm Buddhist and he's a mystic.  We have a lot of the same interests.  We both love art and have artistic talent.  I can talk to him about anything and he gets it.  If he doesn't get it, he'll at least try to understand. I never feel like I have to edit what I say or not bring up certain topics.  We're both geeks and love sci-fi, fantasy, comic books and anime.  We both love animals.  We both love visiting museums and historic sites.  He took the picture of me in the space suit that I use as my icon.  He's been there for me through some of the worst experiences in my life and he was loving and caring and did whatever he could to help.   I have bipolar disorder and he's been there for me through the ups and downs.  I love him with every fiber of my being and I would do anything for him. We've had our good and bad times but I never doubt our love for one another.    I'm so blessed to have him in my life.  If I lost him, I can't imagine finding another soulmate.  I think I could date, but I can't imagine loving someone the way I love Scott.  I know people who have similar interests as he does and similar personality traits but no one who is the same unique blend of being as him.
