About Me:

I love textiles. I've done weaving, tie dye, batik.   At the moment I do small quilt / applique collage pieces. I have a BFA in Fiber Arts and a BA in Art History.  I've worked in libraries and have a Masters in Library Science. I currently work in retail. Of all the jobs I've had, the current one is the one I've enjoyed the most. The focus is so much on customer service and there's a true sense of everyone pulling together to serve the customer.   It's a business that sells textiles for the home, which I enjoy.

I want to find meaningful work. Work that has meaning for me, but still pays the bills.   I've had good work experiences, but I've made little headway in finding a longtime career.  Something I could do for 20 years instead of 5. Maybe I'm just not meant to do one job  for 20 years.

At the moment, my job combines many things that I love. Helping people, textiles, organizing and keeping track of items.   I find helping customers rewarding but it also drains me.

Arranging things energizes me, whether it's organizing and sorting items, putting up displays at the store,  moving rocks around in my garden, or collaging my fabric squares.

I'm Buddhist and constantly look for ways to bring compassion and wisdom into my life.   I've been involved with various Buddhist groups.  I love the chanting and the visuals of Tibetan Buddhism.  Zen meditation has always been the most effective form of meditation for me.   I was raised Presbyterian and my dad's side of the family are Methodists.  I still find Christian services comforting, but I prefer the challenge of Buddhism.   I think it's the achiever / learner in me.  I don't feel alive if I'm not learning and striving towards a goal.

I'm married to a wonderful man who is also a lifelong learner.  We share a love of art, sci-fi, comic books, reading, spirituality, caring for animals, and so much more.   We started dating 18 years ago as undergrads and have been married for the last 8 of those years.
